Chasing fresh air and stirred earth, Mary finds herself to be less contrary every second she spends outdoors. She discovers the ability to make friends with the unlikeliest creatures, even the unloved ones. While this book is dated with its inappropriate language, tone, and representation of POC and differently-abled individuals, it was still enchanting to read from an adult perspective while keeping this in the back of my mind: to teach the world where humanity got it wrong so that we can take an active role in making it right. Every step forward is progress to close the erroneous and horrendous divides our forefathers (and their complacent accomplices) created.

This is a cute classic story. I Like how Colin was able to believe in himself to get better .

I must say I don't recall much of this book. I do remember being around aged 10 and staying up under my pillow to read as much as I could!
I may not remember the exact feelings but I know this book invoked feelings for me. I'd still have to say with all my heart that it's a lovely book.

Great and easy read! Very short story, but very powerful! I would definitely recommend this book to any 4-6 grader to read!
