Okay so I didn’t TECHNICALLY read the last hundred pages- but I watched the first couple seasons of the Netflix series so I think it’s fine. I read most of it, okay?
And honestly, kind of hard to review because the show follows this thing to a T and there’s something kind of hard about reviewing something you read that you already watched? Like my eyes are just not as fresh as I’d like them to be. But it was good!
The characters are always banging, but it is not quite fade to black. And the sexual tension and what is described is done well! Very cute, very wholesome. Crazy that it has like 7 more books or something. Glad the author is getting. her. bag. Given they’re all like 800 pages though, I may just pick the show back up at some point. Though I never liked how husband number 1 was treated in the show. I thought it was lame that she couldn’t make herself love him the same, that it turned into some weird sexless marriage, that they were both kind of dicks and then they just easily write him out. Not 100% sure that that is what happens in the book- but I just remember it rubbing me the wrong way.

This a historical fiction romance with some cool cultural pieces in it...abd there are Scottish men in it. Sounds EXACTLY like my type of book, but I was so disappointed and totally disgusted by this one. There is such a thing as historical context and society being governed by different rules, but this totally passes boundaries of what is okay at all.
There is basically no consent in this book. Ever. The time traveling does not really make sense. Most of the characters are pretty unlikable because they treat each other so poorly. The relationship dynamics are soooo bad. I eventually had to stop reading this book about 50% through when Jamie raped his wife (again) as a punishment. Eww. I do NOT recommend this one.
