Am going to ponder for a few days on what struck me this time in reading it, more than ten years after I read it in school for the first time.

Throw me into a pit of feeling about Tea-Cake and then you do THAT. Astonishing and beautiful work but my heart.

This book didn't really grab my attention until I was about half way through it. After that I couldn't put it down. The characters are interesting and I found Janie (the main character)to be especially fascinating as she searched for her happiness with a patience that most people don't have. When she wasn't happy she would put that part of herself away and wait until she could find that part of herself that was missing. Really good book.
