I'm having a really hard time connecting to this comic. Love the art and concept, but maybe it's just a little to didactic and unsubtle in its messaging. I'll probably stick around until Roxane Gay's spin-off series hits shelves, but even then I'm not sure.

It took me entirety too long to read these individual editions. The story Coates is trying to tell feels so disjointed and there's a certain "start/stop" quality to the narrative that leaves me feeling lost more often than not. I'm not enjoying this series anywhere near as much as I thought I would, which makes me sad.

I'm enjoying this series on its own merits but it has been so long since I've read comics regularly that I feel like I'm missing a lot of context. Alas I'm not willing to spend a lot of money and time to catch up on the whole Marvel multiverse either. I'll just look forward to the next issue of this series. I wonder how long Coates will continue writing the series?

Okay, things seem to make sense now, and there seem to be three distinct factions: 1) The royalty, T'Challa, Ramonda, Shuri, 2) "The People," Tetu and Zenzi, 3) The Dora Milaje, Aneka and Ayo. I am still Team Aneka-Ayo. Also glad that now I know the Professor's name is Changamire.
