The third book in The Bone Season series and Paige is now Underqueen. With the support of the syndicate, she aims to destroy Senshield which is choking voyants and forcing them into hiding. But life as a ruler is fraught with danger and tribulations and one mistake could cost her everything.

This book is absolutely incredible! It starts right where it left off in The Mime Order and we learn another huge piece of vital information right at the beginning!! It certainly starts as it means to go on.

The book then goes on to see Paige as Underqueen, having to evacuate voyants due to the dreaded Senshield which will detect voyants all over the country. From the start, it is non-stop action and just when you think you think you can take a breath, another plot twist or crazy adrenaline-filled scene knocks you off your feet and you can only anticipate in fear for what's going to happens next to your beloved characters.

Paige travels to Manchester to Edinburgh in search of the core of the power driving Senshield. All the while Warden is beside her and their relationship is a roller coaster in this book as doubt is slowly creeping in, tainting Paige's ability to trust.

There are so many emotional scenes in this book and I absolutely could not put the thing down. The writing is just beautiful and exquisite as always in this series, making it truly an unputdownable read.

The ending was explosive and brilliantly constructed, leaving you with a similar feeling to the ending of The Bone Season - there's more to come with just a whisper of direction.

This book is just completely brilliant. I love all of the characters and the whole world that has been created is verily fascinating. An absolutely outstanding read.
