I’m reading this series as fast as I can acquire the books. I enjoy the world building most of the time and the slow-burn, B-plot romance. [SPOILERS] Paige’s decision making in this particular book has me going back and forth. Her carelessness as Underqueen, or I guess it’s more that she’s incredibly kind as Underqueen when she just lamented for the previous 2 books about being a criminal and how grimy the syndicate is… doesn’t really make sense to me. I do like the addition of the Beneath and that the pressure was ON with the sensors. It’s my own personal headcanon that Paige being caught did not actually advance the sensors but Vance said it did to mess with her head and reputation. I digress. The last bit of this book is GOOD. I could not fathom why she would surrender and then had so much fun reading more. I also love the language of flowers. What a good touch. I will say it did drive me insane that she tried to distance herself from Arcturus. Hopefully she gets over that in the next book. My last gripe is she’s 20 ??? Or not even 20 yet? I will elect to ignore that info.

This book was slow but necessary. It was a lot of set up. Didn’t really hook me back in until the last 100 pages.

Intrigued to see where we end up.

even though I would say it’s my least favorite so far, I really enjoyed this. I have a suspicion Jaxon is playing at something we will find out later and this was just action packed, love bringing down the government! Paige and warden and there brief moments had me so gutted. There story is being woven in such a beautiful way, I’m excited to see how it goes. Ready to start the mask falling and potentially have my heart ripped out? Yes absolutely

I continued with the series thinking it ended with the third book, but when I found out there would be seven, my world came crashing down. The truth is that The Song of Tomorrow is an unbearable experience, and I have decided to abandon the series completely.

The plot is a disaster. What started as an intriguing story has turned into an unnecessary tangle of events that make no sense. The twists in the narrative are predictable and fail to surprise; instead, they feel forced, as if the author is trying to stretch the story without a clear direction.

The characters are another major problem. Paige, the protagonist, is infuriating, and her decisions are absurd. Every time she speaks, it seems like she is more concerned about her own insecurities than the mission ahead of her. I hate everything she says and does. And as for Arcturus, his passivity is even more frustrating. After everything they have been through together, I don't understand how it’s possible that Paige continues to call him by his title instead of his name. The lack of evolution in their relationship is alarming. Their dynamic makes no sense; it feels like they have regressed instead of growing together.

The politics in this world are equally disappointing. It presents itself as an intriguing power play, but in reality, it lacks depth. The intrigues and conspiracies feel superficial and poorly developed. There is no real sense of urgency or danger; events unfold that seem to have no significant consequences.

In summary, everything that drew me to the series has faded away. The plot is weak, the characters are unsatisfactory, and the politics are a mess. It is unbearable to keep reading. I am ready to leave behind this saga that promised so much and has delivered so little.
