Slow read due to heavy dialect, but about halfway through you realize you are reading an important history lesson and getting a hard reality of the Dust Bowl Migration. I’m sad to read that my California treated migrants so poorly and had no empathy.

The end is just a killer. Wow. Glad I read it. What a journey it took me on!

The prose, symbolism, settings, all fantastic. Moved a little too slow for me at times and didn’t connect with the story at times as much as I’d hoped. Throughly enjoyed and would read again

East of Eden is one of the greatest books I ever read. There were glimpses of that greatness in the vignettes between the actual family plot, but the family plot was not for me.
