I think this book gives a lot of perspectives on what is happening and what will happen in TDA, The Last Hours, and the upcoming shadowhunters series surrounding Kit.
Only gave it 4 stars because it mentioned Thule again and I have always thought this plot line surrounding Thule ever since in TDA does not sit right with me. It doesn’t work. I wish Cassandra never came up with it.
This book gives us new perspectives on Jem and Tessa’s life now that Jem is a mortal again, as well as Brother Zachariah’s journey throughout the years being a Silent Brother visiting Shadow Markets all over the world, dedicating part of himself to searching the lost Herondale. It’s clear through this book how much Jem still loves Will and at parts where he describes how he longs to embrace his former parabatai, I cried! These parts are so beautifully written that the readers can see and feel Jem’s love for Will.
I also love Jem and Tessa’s moments here that we get to see them grow past TMI’s plot. I understand that Jem and Tessa are so lovable to each other, and that they originated from a different century, hence the difference in understanding the modern culture. I have always seen them as romantics in TID, but now in this book some of the writings are too cringey and I wish they would have been written differently, because it’s Jem and Tessa! Their parts in these shadowhunters books had never been cringey before.
Can’t wait for the last series in the shadowhunters world. I am gonna be sad to be honest. I have been growing up with these books over the years.

De collecties van kortverhalen van Cassandra Clare hebben voor mij allemaal één ding gemeen: ze starten ietwat traag, maar krijgen je tegen het einde gegarandeerd aan het huilen! Dit was geen uitzondering.

I don't care if it's boring and nothing happens but I'd pay to read 600 pages of Jem, Tessa, Kit, and Mina living a happy, domestic life in Devon.

finally finished cassandra clare’s third shadowhunter short story collection and what can i say, it really is a well-written world with beloved and well-developed characters. cant wait to get a copy of chain of gold and start my trip down edwardian london. also excited for the wicked powers!!!
