Loved this story. It got me hooked on Dickens. Weird.
In my opinion, one of Dickens' best. I love books with twist endings.

The last dickens I read was a christmas carol many years ago but this was more enjoyable even if it took a fair bit of reading.
Something I found really fun about this book is that Dickens basically reuses all his characters. Especially when you compare this book to Little Dorrit, you realize that he really did just have stock characters and the different books are just changing their situations.
Nicholas is basically Arthur, Mrs. Nickelby is basically Flora F., Kate is basically Little Dorrit, Newman Noggs is absolutely Pancks.
Another part of the book which entertains me is Nicholas' recurrent harping on the need for copyright protections for authors, despite the fact that he was barely an author himself and seemed to have no personal experience with the issue--which is especially amusing considering the fact that after the publication of Nicholas Nickelby Dickens faced a bit of legal backlash due to several yorkshire schoolmasters individually believing that Squeers was based on them and attempting to sue for defamation.

Nicholas Nickleby was yet another sprawling Dickens tale; packed with memorable characters, a hateable villain, and a sentimental ending. I enjoyed the arc and adventures of our protagonist quite a lot and found much vindication in the end. A classic Dickens tale to the last!
