I don't have the mental energy to write about all the parts I did not enjoy about this book. Towards the end, I was draggggggging. Honestly, two stars might be too generous.

Mara: Her mouth stays dropped and she stays whispering. "Uh". "Um". Make up half her vocabulary. Always answers a question with a one-word question. Must be told or asked the same thing -this is not an exaggeration - at least seven times in a row before she can respond. She asks the most idiotic questions. Here is one:
"'Why was Bill arrested?' Mitch stared at me a minute, his expression shifting quickly to one that said he didn't know what to make of me. Then he answered, 'Mara, he was in possession of illegal substances and I'm a police officer. We tend to do something when we see someone in possession of something illegal. That's kind of our job.' This was true. Shit. I was such a dork!"
This dumb bitch literally saw all this with her own eyes but is still asking this stupid fucking question. He stared at her because he probably just realized this bitch has an intellectual disability. She also always described herself as a dork! So quirky.

Mitch: Talks. Like. This. When. Mara. Is. Cosplaying. As. A. Mannequin. Uses profanity for no reason. Started calling her "Baby" and "Sweetheart" the day they started talking. He's love-bombing tf out of this woman. LMAO.

I should probably revisit this one. I remember loving the h&H and not being disgusted by anything either did. But I can't seem to remember a plot. Was there one? hmmm...
The h was pretty insecure, but the H was patient and almost sweet.

The hero in this book is a true toxic asshole. I just couldn’t keep listening to a book where I’m supposed to root for a relationship that seems like a one way ticket to abuse.

I want a retinal laser beam and with it I would like to knock some sense into Mara, at least in the first half of the book.

The thing with Kristen Ashley is that once you get a hang of her style and her books you know it’ll be all right. And so it was. I was truly happy with Mara once she got over herself and she found her place in the world. It was great to watch for me as it was for Mitch. And Mitch… you can't help but swoon with sexy Mitch, “big hearted Mitch,” was just what Mara needed.

I just love these dream men with their dreamy epilogues.

I'm revisiting some of my older audio books and this is one I tried to listen to again. I didn't finish it this time. The narrator is not good. The hero is an assuming asshole. And the heroine is absolutely clueless. I guess it hasn't aged well for me.

Previous comments:
I had some good memories of this from when I first read it, so I bought the audio version. The narrator wasn't super great - wasn't consistent with the voices. Also, the story takes place in Colorado and she seemed to keep falling into a New York accent. Regarding the story itself, I've been reminded why I stopped reading Kristen Ashley books. They're really long because she likes to describe clothes and furnishing in great detail. The heroine always has a "posse". The heroine is almost always a clueless idiot. Everyone is beautiful and perfect. That would be okay if it were from the perspective of the other person in the relationship because they should see the good in each other. But, it's always everyone around validating the beauty and perfection. And the hero is always somewhat of an asshole. But, they're always really into each other and I guess that's why I forget about the other annoying stuff and revisit these sometimes.
