I've previously read, and really liked, Ruta Sepetys' unfortunately named book "Between Shades of Gray" (seriously, the book needs a new title) so I had high hopes that I would like this book too. And I did, but I just wished for something a little more. I kept waiting for all the different story lines of Josie's life to somehow converge in some way, like the pieces of a puzzle, creating some bigger picture. And it never really did. But I still enjoyed all the pieces of this book, especially the many characters who all were so life-like.

I got the recommendation for this book (as well as others) from @thebrunettebookjunkie .
This book was another one of those reads that you get lost in quickly. Sweet Josie was dealt a bad hand with having a mom as a prostitute but overcame so many obstacles. I love watching her grow and become an amazing young woman with a love of reading and learning.

Where do I start?
All the books written by Ruta, Is well remembered by me. And I say this as if I have lost a friend each time I close a book written by her. I am privileged enough to talk to Ruta these couple of weeks, and kid you not I am looking forward to the day I will serve justice to all hidden histories like her. Now, I am being overflattered so might as well get on the review... Out of the Easy is a book about hope and decisions. The title does not give a lot In first impressions but as I reach the end, the book reminds me of the days I chose the easiest option there is. Ruta Sepetys is the only author I know that writes about prostitution and sexual harassment in a mannerly form. She writes about a queer character in the most realistic manner. In every chapter, there is a new plot and you can feel all the research she has poured in her books. What else? She makes you cry and feel in midsentence. She grabs you by the arm and the next thing you know, you're in 1950 New Orleans. The fountains of Silence brought me to where I am now, an amateur historian and seeker of lost stories. As I finish this last book, I don't feel like its the end of something. As they once said, The beginning is the end and the end is the beginning.
I think the question is not "Where do I start?" but why do I start?

Solid read.
Predictable, good writing, hints of mystery. Overall a good book.
