First few chapters seemed slow and I thought this would be the first of Jeaniene Frost books I didn't like. Boy was I wrong!!! I loved this book and can't wait for #2.

This book would have been the normal 5 Stars. But I am listening to the audiobook and Tavia Gilbert keeps dropping Veritas’ accent. It totally yanks me out of the scene. I am not sure what happened here Tavia Gilbert usually is able to keep the accent going smoothly.

God, why did it take so long for me to read this book? I love the Night Huntress World.
To put it simply, this spin-off was incredible. Period. One of the easiest 5 stars I've ever given.
Make sure to start with Halfway to the Grave, and leave this spin-off for last to be able to follow the timeline.
Pick up one of her books ASAP, Goodreads fiends!

Reread this to refresh memory before reading book 2. Fun read!
This book was so much fun. I think this series gets better and better...Cat and Bones got better with time, Vlad was fun and Ian...or maybe even more accurately Veritas...was even better. Just a fun fluff engaging story.

I have to say this book showed a side of Ian that I wasn’t expecting. It almost didn’t seem like the same character that I read about in Cat & Bones story, who I’ve noticed aren’t painted favorably in other couple’s HEA. I didn’t like them in Ian’s story and I didn’t like them in Mencheres’ either. Ian and Veritas have some amazing chemistry. However, Veritas herself also seems like an entirely new character in this book with all her hidden abilities. I will probably read the next book in this series but I almost wished she’d done this series with new characters because the way she paint them here doesn’t line up with previous books.
