"The problem isn't that I want to die. The problem is that I want to live too much for the world to contain me, and I need to break free of myself before it kills me."

I picked this one up because of the cover, and I also really enjoyed the author’s debut graphic novel TAPROOT. 🌻 SUNFLOWERS is an autobiographical comic about one person's experience living with bipolar I disorder, from mania to depression. The illustrations are gorgeous, and for such a short story, it packs a mighty punch. We need more honest content like this, especially in graphic form.

I have never felt more seen by any piece of media. Young has put into clear words and beautiful art all the things I've wanted to say about my experience. They have shed light on the complex feelings bipolar disorder can bring, and loudly whisper the truth: we are all human, with unique experiences, and everyone deserves to be heard. This is a must-read for anyone.
