I LOVED this book. It falls outside of my usual preferences since it’s YA and the characters are so young, but it ended up being a wonderful and meaningful read. I’m so glad I picked it up and gave it a try! It’s a blend of fantasy and realism and the mythology of the story is seamlessly tied in.

Instant five stars. This book was the kind of predictable that made you hope you were wrong and any drop in action left you waiting for the other shoe to drop. It was so tense and well-developed. I was so scared to start it but so worth the hype.

I was hesitant about this one. Historical stories/books usually don't work for me. Though I'm glad I read this!

It was a bit slow in the beginning. Though after finishing the book, I can't really recall much from part one other than some key details. Part two and three really pick up the pace. I was hooked!

Part 3 & Epilogue Spoilers
I wish we got to know more about Attie's experience on the front line. But once it was Iris's turn to go to the front, it was like non-stop. I basically read the last 40% of the book in one sitting because it flowed so well. I just had to know what was going to happen next!

The epilogue, yikes man. Not prepared for that but it does give more weight to why it was so hard for Forest to desert Dacre's forces. Now I'm worried for Kitt! A minute from death but saved by Dacre? Are Forest's wounds reopening because he deserted? Or does it just happen to remind him of his debt to Dacre for saving him? Will this happen to Kitt too?

I'm thankful the second book was just released so I don't have to wait for it. Just bought it and will be jumping in tomorrow. For my first book/series  of 2024, I don't think I could've done better!

Dear Roman C. Kitt, you are the sun, the moon, the earth, and the stars, and I thank Rebecca Ross for making you!

This book was beautiful. It grabbed my heart with the very first line and never let it go. These characters and this setting are so rich and just feel like a warm embrace. And Roman, well, Roman was perfect.

I can’t wait to devour Ruthless Vows and see where this journey ends!
