LOVE LOVE LOVE! This started my sci-fi monster/alien romance addiction! The enthusiastic consent and fluff really killed me!! I would be down for a re-read in the future!

A Praxiian tho???
Every other Ruby Dixon books with the cat-like aliens in them they've been kind of vicious. Kim is right to be concerned. But apparently, Nassakth is harmless (to her at least). Who would have guessed? I also like the bond they forge with Bethiah. Besides the fact that she is literally bat-shit, she genuinely cares for them.

Read #2, 8/3/25: I forgot how much I love Nassakth. The guy is down so bad from before the book even starts and he’s so willing to suffer just to love Kim. Him asking Bethiah to fake-kidnap him in order to get his chance is perfection. Praxiian king.
POV: dual first person
You can expect: marriage of convenience, strangers to friends to lovers, roomance, only one bed, mine/yours, he falls first, alien/human, courting, he purrs for her.
Rep: trauma
Spice: 3/5
CW: past abduction, past assault, past enslavement

Honestly, I did not expect to like this. Low key I almost skipped it all together because it was about a praxiian and I'm strictly sa-khui/mesakkah (or so I thought). I want a Nassakth of my own! I liked Kim a lot as well and I loved that they are an older couple (not old, just older than 22!) As I get older I find that I don't love reading about couples that are so much younger than me. I liked meeting Bethiah and I think she'll be interesting as I see more of her. I loved the cameo from Zoey's brothers . There were some details that stood out to me that I keep thinking about like when Nassakth mentioned that he has seen/heard of szzt human children?? Like what human fell in love with a szzt?! Cuz at this point we've only seen evil szzt. I also liked how we heard about possible play dates with Millie's kids . I think I would happily reread this one.
