I didn't realize that When She Purrs was so long! But, interestingly, it felt that the length of the novel allowed for the plot to evade the typical 'cheesy-ness' and insta-love that are common in marriage-of-convenience alien-romances. I really enjoyed how the relationship was slowly developed between the MCs and how Ruby took the time to navigate the cultural barriers between them.
However, I didn't connect to either of the characters that much and felt that some decisions of the Hero–while explained by his culture or past trauma–didn't probably consider the impact of being a human–they're seen as 'pets'. There were, therefore, quite a few miscommunications between the MCs. But, the Hero did eventually start to understand. There was great personal as well as relationship growth in When She Purrs which, I think, was my favourite part of the book.
When She Purrs is an entertaining alien romance with just the right mix of sweet and sexy. Also, I loved the cameos of the corsairs' ship, Little Sister! Safety Rating: Safe
• No cheating
• No OW/OM drama
• Does have the Heroine pushing the Hero away
• No separation between the Hero and Heroine
Possible Triggers:
• Discussion of slavery
• Discussion of and allusion to sexual servitude
• Murder
Ending: HEA with Extended Epilogue
Overall: 3.5/5 stars

This was cute and fun. I didn't love this couple as much as some other Ruby Dixon characters, but the story was still entertaining enough for what it was. Overall, not a bad pick to pass the time.
So.... it was okay. I know I know, what the hell is wrong with me? But, it was okay. 2.5 stars even. Nothing is exactly bad but there wasn't anything even memorable about them.
