The Devil in the Details had a rushed quality to it. I find that occasionally happens in short stories, so I can forgive it. The main problem I have starts with the writing style. There should be more showing and less telling. I think that would have helped. Word choice and vocabulary were also a problem for me. The way the narrator expressed himself reminded me of a bad Private Dick movie. (How many times did his hand go to his piece? Once was too many. Maybe it was supposed to be a metaphor.) I feel like I may have enjoyed Devil in the Details slightly if the writing had not distracted me.

This was fun in a Gaiman urban fantasy way. But a little too part of a series to be enjoyed o its own.
