I have no words for this anthology except: some of these featured stories were nuts. It is way different from your usual fairytale - especially Neil Gaiman, Neil I don't want to talk about what I just read but do we need to talk?
In conclusion, that was a book.

3.5/5 stars - a good collection of horror stories ranging from creepy to gory horror, from original or fairy tale inspired retellings. Glad to have some heavy hitter authors in here, like Katherine Arden and Joe Hill.

If you like witches/curses/farirytales, etc. you will appreciate this anthology. My only disappointment was I've read the Joe Hill one already - while still a good read, I was hoping for something new from this author. I did like all the stories as well, which can't be said for all anthologies.

A lot of well written stories. But there was some weird theme of sex and feminism going on? Like it seemed like a lot of the stories relied on weird sex stuff to up the creepy factor. And then some of them were feminist but not in a very interesting way, more in a “men are evil so let’s just kill the men” way. But there were still some that were just fun and creepy.

I enjoyed all of the stories in this collection and absolutely loved quite a few of them. They were all creepy in their own different ways and they were all quick, fun reads. I liked it enough to go find and read the first anthology!

I’m not much if a horror fan, more interested in cozy horror/cozy mysteries. I will say the book looked unassuming and was much more disturbing than I would have guessed from the back cover. That being said, the stories were all incredibly well written, and I could NOT put it down until the night got too dark for me to feel comfortable reading 😅 but I can confidently recommend this anthology to folks who can appreciate captivating, well-written darker horror.
Graphic: Gore, Violence, Death, Blood, Misogyny, Murder, Body horror, and Injury/Injury detail
Moderate: Alcohol, Pedophilia, Child abuse, Car accident, Domestic abuse, Emotional abuse, Misogyny, Physical abuse, and Rape
