So so so so good. I thought this was going to be depressing or whatever but this book is hilarious, wonderful to read. The way that Plath portrays the pathetically egocentric depression of the former gifted child is actually incredible and very funny. The depressing parts lie in the complete lack of self-awareness on the part of the protagonist, and these parts are snuck in between the lines or mentioned only briefly because the protagonist is not self-aware enough to understand them. I didn't realize it was mainly autobiographical but I almost instantly clocked the protagonist as a Smith student.

A feminist satirical prose that perfectly encompasses the 50s culture surrounding mental health
