was super surprised to see this at the library today, it's always checked out. hoping to find some of the other volumes. :)

idk.. cute art style (i picked it up only bc i loved seconds and the artist's style) but the plot felt dull, slow, unexplained and uninteresting to me. like i appreciated the jokes but there wasn't enough explanation or development for it to really make me want to read more.

Scott Pilgrim is just an average 20-something guy living in poverty with his best friend, working, jamming with his crappy band, and trying to find love. On that final front, it seems like he winds up caught up in a perfect storm when he begins seeing a high school girl and then finds, literally, the girl of his dreams at a party. But who does he stay with? The illegal underaged girl who loves him insanely or the cool, dangerous American he dreamt of and whose evil exes are now stalking him?

Not a bad start to a series of graphic novels that is soon to be released as a movie starring Michael Cera in the title role. Go fig. The artwork is loosely Manga inspired (very loosely), but is fun to watch. The over-expressiveness of the characters is pretty enjoyable and adds to the fun of the book. But it all seemed so abrupt. I can't believe how much happened in so little space. And I'm curious how much of it will translate in the movie. I also can't wait to see how it continues in book 2.

Almost shot for shot like the movie. Every single drawing of Knives is so cute. Ends right after the battle with Matthew Patel.

Quick read and real fun! J read this in the waiting room before a colonoscopy. Lol.

So, after watching the movie "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World" and recently discovering that it was based on this graphic novel, I had to read it, after putting it off for a while.

It's all about Scott Pilgrim, a 23 years old, living with his gay friend Wallace, dating a Chinese high-schooler, and plays in a band, whose life completely changes after dreaming of - and meeting- Ramona Flowers.

Of course, the movie bring a lot of 'comic-ish' elements to life and the movie is more like a live action movie with lots of graphics, which suits it well. Even the movie showed more of the relationship between Scott and Knives -his high-shooler girlfriend- and the changes it went through pre and after Ramona.

Ramona is a little more open in the comics, unlike her movie self, which was cold and cocky as hell, but I liked her in both. I like Scott's character, so care-free and gullible, though that could turn into a big problem in the future.

Now, for the plot twist, I just love that whole "seven evil ex-boyfriends" and having to defeat them all to be with Ramona, now that's something that could get me to read 6 volumes. Though I've watched the movie a couple of times, I can't wait to read the next volume!

Finally started going down the Scott Pilgrim rabbit hole.  What a very engaging first entry!  Right from the very first page, I was hooked.  It was a lot of fun, and I can’t wait to see where the story goes next.
