This book is definitely not what I expected from the description. There's a lot of sexual assault mentioned and not really fully condemned, and many different tropes all crammed into this book.

Oh my lord.... Skipping to this book was the best choice I ever made. I was pretty put off reading book 1, but when I heard John Ka was a little kinky I ran straight to this one. The book especially resonated with me because I had a similar thought process to Rosa in a past (toxic and chaotic) relationship; it was crazy to read how spot-on Finley Fenn is in that regard. Learning more about the orcs and some of the characters' backstories certainly tugged my heartstrings. I did not expect the emotional rollercoaster ride that is the last 30% of this book, flip-flopping between hot and heavy to just heavy *cries*. I'm not sure how I'll move on to the next book after all that, John Ka is my fav.
