Young adult geared sci-fi book takes you back to a childlike thought process that is relatable and adventurous.

I never know when personal views of the author leak into their work *or* if those same views serve a purpose for the story only that doesn't necessarily translate to the real world. Is that possible, I don't know. I did find many views in Ender's Game to be interesting along those lines- portrayal of women being one. Namely, how dated does this work feel when the act of being 'crazy' is labeled female. As in 'the crazy' is a 'she'. It sort of blows the notion of progressive thought in science fiction, doesn't it? To that end, the book is true, however. There are many such ideas put forth that pull us back in evolutionary age instead of forward.
SpoilerEspecially the ending, which, honestly, surprised me. I sort of thought we were having a real thought experiment here and instead we see the formation of a religion. I was already struggling with "the one", savior concept but then to have that person birth the movement. Ugh. And don't get me started on the one that saves them all by killing all the other is then the one that will ultimately save the other? Shock me, shock me, shock me. I mean, is this Orson guy a piece of work? I'm starting to wonder if he's a piece of work.
It's so nice to read these "old" books in vacuum, going into it blind was just the ticket.

I do want to read the next at this point because I'm curious where he is going to take it from here? No promises on finishing, though. Might rage quit. This book, though it compelled me to finish to see the end, had a sterile storytelling personality. Ultimately, it was okay.
