Way overrated. Ok, but there are better books IMHO. Just didn't do anything for me.

One main problem with this book is that the characters central to the plot (Ender, Graff, Peter, Valentine) all have a same coldness and lack of character, making it a pretty homogenous landscape in terms of mood and motivation. Ender seems to be able to break that mould of coldness, we only see it in pockets; his training denies him this kind of release. In his case it's forgivable, but for every other character to be given a similar range of emotion (or lack thereof) is irksome.

Aside from that, the plot was enjoyable, the surprises were genuinely surprising, and it was a compelling weekend read. Any science fiction lover should enjoy this. Solid, but a bit overrated.

One of the best books ever because it is fun to watch prodigies. It is cool to watch Ender outsmart the smart ones. I recommend to everyone.
