I found it hard to get into this book at first, even though I liked the concept. (That's mostly a personal issue because I find first person narration unpleasant to read a lot the time. However, even without the first person narration, the beginning is slow.) The book started to pick up after Josh started going on dates though, so I ended up finishing it despite early misgivings.
Overall, it was cute and made me laugh. Josh's awkwardness on dates and other situations was painful to read because it was so real. I appreciated that. Haha.
My only big criticism would be that I felt that main characters were fleshed out at dramatically different levels, so some felt like real characters while others felt like cardboard cutouts meant to drive the plot (ex. Sunflower girl). It took away from the story imo.

2.5 stars
Josh is suffering a quarter-life crisis. He proposed to his girlfriend on the London Eye and she says no, telling him she's been cheating on him. He loses his job and he has to move back in with his parents. He has nothing to look forward to at all. He decides that for the next year, he's going to make decisions by the flip of a coin. What harm could it do?
This book wasn't half bad. We follow around Josh as his coin decides his fate. He meets a woman who he nicknames Sunflower and then later decides he needs to find her again. I don't know whether to truly find this romantic or a little creepy. I do think that he and 'Sunflower' had chemistry in their initial meet-up and it was a cute idea. This book was also slow to start and had slow moments until he decides to travel around Europe to look for the woman of his dreams. He gets into sticky situations and it reads a bit like a movie in your head. I don't generally read romcom books by male authors because there's usually something missing and this book is no exception. I know we're supposed to feel sorry for Josh but he comes off more whiny to me. The whole concept of this book was much better than what happened. While I enjoyed his adventure through Europe, the trip itself didn't seem well-rounded. We're focused on him almost the whole time and not learning anything super interesting about the environment around him. Essentially, the writing is decent but the character leaves a bit to be desired and the story needs more. I enjoyed big parts of the book but not enough for it to get more than 2.5 stars.

The flip side was a funny read it had me laughing out loud a few times.
Did I enjoy this read yes I did
Was it fantastic - no
Would I recommend it - yes
Lovable characters - yes
Good plot- I'd say interesting enough to keep the reader going
Towards the end my attention was not as invested but it was still a good read.

Mediocre romance novel, sprinkled with some very unnecessary fatphobia. The main character felt a bit too sorry for himself and the plot is somewhat improbable, but i enjoyed Jonathan Bailey’s narration.

Had a hard time getting into it plus cringey shit kept happening. Also in was like 25% in and no romantic interest yet. Is this even a romance? I bailed. Was not in the mood for shenanigans and couldn't risk a Non-HEA. (Tried to read during the 26 day hospital stint of 2020-21l
Rom-coms aren’t my favorite genre, but every once in a while, it’s a nice break. This one came with the #bookishbox, and it was a great read to refresh my palette. As someone with decision making issues, I loved the idea of flipping a coin to make decisions. This had just the right amount of romance and realism, and I appreciated that the coin flipping didn’t make immediate changes to his life.
The book started a bit slow for me, but really picked up pace when Josh began searching for his Sunflower girl. I liked the romance and the drama of it, and appreciated that it got him traveling. A sweet read I really enjoyed
