Kako znam da mi se knjiga mnogo mnogo dopala:
1. Dok čitam, razmišljam kako bih volela da je dam svima koje znam da je pročitaju

I don’t have much to say about this book other than it was boring. The characters had barely any humor, and the beginning part of this book was incredibly slow. I really like contemporary books but this one didn’t do it for me. 2/5 stars and would not recommend:/

The novel spans about a year- starting with a break up that spurs James to adopt the practise of flipping a coin to make decisions.
There were a few times, if I'm honest, that I didn't want to keep reading. James is a bit of a dick and his friends just go along with it.
It definitely didn't have to be as long as it was- it could have easily ended a few chapters previously and was needlessly wordy in parts. None of the characters had much depth.
I finished it mostly because I felt like I may as well after getting so far. It ended predictably too.

I'm such a nice person giving this 2.75 stars. It was really slow. Way too unrealistic. And you could tell it was written by a man with phrases like "she was naturally beautiful" being used. However, the humor was pretty good and the writing could've been worse. It was entertaining in its far-fetched story.
This is probably one of the most British books I have ever read in my life. I was really looking forward to reading this book and I thought the premise was strong, but there wasn't enough substance in the plot or the characters for me to stay engaged the whole way through. I nearly put this aside in my "Did Not Finish" pile but I had one hundred pages to go so I thought I might as well see the ending.
James Bailey has a great voice and his sarcastic humor felt along the lines of Bridget Jones Diary or Four Weddings and a Funeral, but the main conflict centered around his need to keep using that coin to made decisions and I thought it took him far too long to realize that not making decisions for himself was a bad idea. Especially given everyone he told about the coin idea said it was weird and kind of stupid. I'll chalk it up to John being kind of a dufus but that fact made it hard to sympathize with him when he was continually making bad decisions.
Bailey is also at fault for making the love interest a manic pixie dream girl trope, which made her so boring when she showed up in the later half of the book. Personality traits where some one has never read the ending of a book or hangs out in cemeteries does not make them interesting or deep. It just makes it obvious she wants to seem interesting and deep. I don't mean to criticize anyone that does have these traits though. I'm just sure there are a lot more interesting things about you that don't make you a "quirky girl" stereotype.
I started reading this book thinking it was going to be a fun rom com but I definitely wouldn't put this in the romance category (the girl he is interested in doesn't even show up until halfway through the book). It's a sort of slice of life, coming-of-age novel that needs a little more plot or character development to stay engaging.
