Loved it!
The Flip Side is everything you expect it to be..I thoroughly enjoyed reading this, I was so hooked on Josh and Sunflower Girls story. My heart broke for Josh when his pap died, having been through it before I really sympathised with him. A great weekend/holiday read!

Cute book, I would say put this at the top of your list if you want a book that reads a like a classic romcom.
It was like the late 90s early 2000s rom coms, the cute and sweet moments. I was going aw gooey sweet a few times and having a chuckle at other times. Both made the book very enjoyable, and I think this would be fun to see a movie with a cute dude in the lead. I have no idea who, but I would love it to be someone cute and funny.
Josh was cute and funny, but there was nothing to make him stand out, I kind of forgot some details when I was done with the book. His friends were okay, but I think they could have been stronger to make them stick in my mind moreso.
This was a great debut, and I know the author will only get better.
Thank you NetGalley and Harper Collins/William Morrow for the ARC in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I enjoyed this book. It was such an easy read, almost a 'blink and you'll miss it' kind of read. It was paced really well and you really routed for Josh throughout the entire book. It had sad moments, happy moments, and 'LOL' moments. Definitely something I'd pick up again.

I was drawn to this book as the blurb was intriguing and I was interested to read a romantic comedy from a male perspective.
The story was slow paced to start but was still entertaining and was keeping my interest. I enjoyed the humour and some of the characters were fantastic. We all have relatives like some of Josh's family so it made his circumstances totally relatable.

I was really looking forward to reading this book, as the plot and premise seemed so interesting and promising. Unfortunately, there were just too many things that made it not work for me.
The first thing that was a bit annoying was the main character itself which is a shame, really because I think I could have liked him. Maybe it’s because I as a reader was in his head so much and therefore perceived him as quite whiny and resigned.
Yes, he was just broken up with (not to mention on the day he was proposing of all days) and cheated on but it was very exhausting reading how he felt like everything was against him if I’m being honest. It sounded a lot like a teenager rather than a man in his late twenties. Which, again, might have been due to the POV of the first person singular and me as a reader being in Josh’s head all of the time. Maybe if it was written in the third person it would have been a different experience.
Also, the plot took quite some time to evolve. I feel like the pacing was a bit odd, as the amount of time we had in the beginning with nothing really happening could have been used to develop the relationship a bit further before the 'big blow'. Now it’s just a veeery slow start and then everything happening very fast all of a sudden.
And lastly, I’m not sure if RomCom’s just not my thing but for my taste this was a bit too quirky, and it felt a bit too try-hard to be funny and relatable at some points. But this might just be because I’m generally not the most dramatic person.
Either way, it just felt off for me most of the time.
Ultimately, although I would change quite a few things I’m not the author and I can see why someone would like it but it just wasn’t for me.

i mean it took me a little less than a month to finish this........ the audiobook was the only thing keeping me on it but even jonathan bailey couldn’t save the shitty writing and plot. i’ve concluded men probably shouldn’t write romcoms or whatever they think passes as one.
A RECORD dnf for me at page 20.
This book was published in 2020 but contained the line “She is with her husband, Geoff, who has an anxiety disorder, meaning he hates any awkward situations and has a phobia of eating in public.”
And then two pages later this person has a panic attack and the main character asks why he was invited? Wow. Do better. Anxiety isn’t the butt of a joke.

This was an ‘okay’ easy read. I thought the main character Josh was a little annoying and found myself rolling my eyes quite a few times with regards to his decisions and felt some things a little unrealistic especially with how things played out with Sunflower Girl.
It started off very much the same as Dumped Actually by Nick Spalding but thankfully took a different-ish route. I felt it was trying to get laughs but they didn’t quite land with me I’m afraid. Josh’s lack of confidence in decision making was frustrating but I suppose that was the point of this book and premise of the coin-tossing idea. It could have also been because I part listened to it via audiobook and personally found the reader annoying & whiney not to mention at times super quiet, so would get frustrated when listening which ruined the vibe.
Now I’ve finished the book though I can appreciate Josh’s journey, not only with his decisions but with his relationship with himself which I found the most important.
