Eh this just didn't do anything for me..
lighthearted medium-paced

I went into this book expecting a romcom and sadly it didn't really work for me, as there was a lot more focus upon the mc Josh and his progress over the year. Which wasn't bad just not what i wanted and he is rather unlikable for the majority.

The story started off strong with the end of his previous relationship, introducing him and his life - his friends and family. I loved the con flip as a concept, it was lots of fun and i enjoyed the quizzes with his team. Costume parties, the rabbit Jeremy and how each chapter was another event in his life were entertaining.

"Just think its better to say "oops" than "what if","

However it takes half the book for him to meet the love interest and while they have an adorable meet cute, the museum and postcards with the art was sweet. They lose each other in the crowd and the rest of the book involves Josh deciding to go look for her, with only a few clues based on their first meeting as they didn't give their names.

Now this may have been great if not for it taking ages for him to finally mke up his mind, he has to find the funds and flip the coins so its a few months/chapters before he starts looking. Which meant by the time they actually meet again its almost the end of the book and just gave no time to really see their romance explored, it felt like only just started and then the book ends.

"Where is the fun in knowing how it's all going to play out?"

I will admit they have cute scenes when together and can see their chemistry, they're both quirky in ways and very fitting. Sadly it wasn't enough though, as only small part of the story.

Josh is rather difficult to like at times, i hated how much he presumed about others based on their appearances and very stereotypical in places that annoyed me. His rather a jerk towards other most of the time and i wasn't a huge fan at points, he came across self absorbed.

"Maybe this will be something, maybe it will be nothing. -I just want to spend more time with you and see what happens."

Although it seems he recognised by the end that he had been awful most of the year. So i maybe that was just an impact of everything with Jade, losing so much at the start and trying to find himself. However i still felt he made a lot of the problems in his life, with his own actions and lack of communication.

Overall it was an enjoyable story, easy to read with some great moments and im sure many will love it, but wasn't the romance i had hoped for.

3.5, a pleasant read, despite a bit of predictability :)

2.5 stars!

I really wanted to like this and be completely swooned off my feet but honestly it just wasn't for me, there was something that felt off all throughout.

Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Josh has just broken up with his long-term girlfriend, lost his job and his house and his now forced to move back in with his parents and try to reinvent himself and figure his life out. In the midst of his chaotic life, Josh decides that he will leave the next year of his life up to fate and will make every decision with the flip of a coin.

In theory, this book had everything to succeed. A romantic comedy style, intriguing premise and what seem to be interesting characters. It was did quite funny and entertaining at times, however there were certain things I just couldn't look past.

The main thing that "ruined" this book for me was the fact that the whole second half of it is based on Josh finding what he believe is the "love of his life". Now, I'm all for romance. In fact, I absolutely love romance and will always fight to have romance in a story, but this story just wasn't romantic at all. The whole "romance" plot line is based on Josh being head over heels with this perfect girl whom he only met once and had about a 15 minute conversation with. After that, he is lost to his love for her and will stop at nothing to find her. That includes travelling to several countries across Europe to try to figure out where she is working and see her one more time. This whole plot line just didn't sit right with me, I found it creepy. Perhaps if the characters had had a more deeper connection being shown I would've felt differently about it but as it stands I didn't see how Josh was so completely in love with this girl after meeting her once that he would travel Europe to track her down. Also, again, slightly creepy and stalker-y, not at all a great romantic gesture in my eyes.

I can definitely see why people would absolutely love this book though. It is well written and fast paced, there are a lot of interesting passages about art and also some really funny moments.

Overall I just feel this wasn't a story for me but it could absolutely be a great story for someone else!

I would say read something better, do not lose your time or money.

After proposing to his girlfriend on the London Eye on New Years Eve and being spectacularly rejected Josh feels, understandably in a bit of a slump. He doesn't trust his decision making abilities and so, when he finds a 50p coin decides that maybe, by flipping it, it can make better decisions for him!
This leads Josh to some awkward situations, but also some good ones!

The book has some sad moments and proper laugh out loud moments. Although a little predictable I did really enjoy the story and would definitely read more by this author
