Incredulous---That's it. I can not believe that I fell for her again. I used to love to read Mary Higgins Clark as a teenager. I rememeber reading Where are the Children while babysitting one afternoon. And then I outgrew her.

But yesterday there sat this paperback and it just sounded enjoyable, so I started reading. Honestly the book wasn't exactly like all her others. Sure she had WAY too many coincidences, but she always does. (A serial killer next door who barely figures into the main plot -really Mary? You can do better.)

Then I got to the end. Just Take My Heart. More like shoot me if I ever pick one of these up again. I can't believe I didn't see that coming!!!!!

Next time Mary just go ahead and marry the two main characters and call the novel All Tied up with a Big Pretty Bow! And a couple of body parts. Heavens!

I really enjoyed reading this book. I found this to be a little different from her other mystery novels, and I have read all of them.

In this one, Emily Wallace is a prosecutor trying a man for murder but is fighting with her inner feelings of his innocence. Her star witness is not exactly credible. What would you do if you were facing 10 years jail time? She is also a heart transplant patient and a war widow. Lives by herself in a small, New Jersey town next to an older man who she is not exactly sure is very credible as well. Whodunnit???

Clark adds alot more into this beside's a murder trial and trying to solve a mystery. I think I enjoyed this more than her other mysteries.

A nice light easy read at the right time. I hadn’t read a MHC book in a long time. Emily was an easy character to like, and even when she made a huge mistake tried to correct it. Audiobook was well read

I'm trying to decide why this was only a two-star book for me. I know that my tastes have changed and gotten so it could be that or maybe this one just wasn't that good. I'm going to give Mary Higgins Clark another chance (not sure when though) before I give up on her books completely. This was so predictable. I saw the twists a mile away, and the writing was cheesier than I remember. Although it has been a few years since I've read any of her books, and I've read some really amazing books in that time.

Mary Higgins Clark never disappoints her readers and once again she has written another fast paced novel that will have you turning the pages at great speed.

Just Take My Heart is action packed with mystery, crime, suspense and courtroom drama that will keep you guessing till the end. A compelling read which I thoroughly enjoyed. If you are a fan of this author then make sure you don't overlook this one. Highly recommended.

This book was actually quite awful, but since I finished it and didn't throw it against a wall, I feel like I can't give it just one star. It was kind of like a cheesy Lifetime movie that you watch until the end while complaining about how sucky it is. The dialogue is stiff, the characters are completey uninteresting and the coincidences go way beyond suspension of disbelief into the no fucking way category. So, what does it say about me that I actually finished this? It's been a hard week. Don't judge!

I have always liked Mary Higgins Clark, when I read her when I was younger she always kept me guessing. I don't know if because I'm older and have more experience or whether Mary Higgins Clark has become more predictable in her "who done it's" , but it takes something away from the mystery when I can figure out the plot half way through the book. Other than that the story was well written and kept me interested. More court room drama than I'd have liked, but all in all a good read.
