Als lezer ben je aan het eind net zo in de war als de hoofdpersoon zelf, wat ik juist wel sterk vind. Ook al kan ik me voorstellen dat je daardoor ook kan afhaken, want soms moet je stukken opnieuw lezen om na te gaan of je het wel goed begrijpt en dan nog weet je eigenlijk niet of je het goed begrijpt. De schrijfstijl en de lange zinnen, de herhalingen en de gedachten die soms alle kanten opgaan reflecteren wel goed de staat van de hoofdpersoon.
Confusing and not interesting enough. Also, I've heard this is Dostoyevsky's worst book, so maybe I should just skip it.
Dostoevsky is one of my favorite authors, but this is far from my favorite of his books.

Wonderful novel, quite dense as it was translated from Russian, but you get used to the long sentences and unfamiliar pacing. It will have you questioning where the recognition of abnormalness begins. Be aware that in Russian, the same person can be addressed by several variations of names.
Reading this felt like a chore. The book felt a lot longer than it's 164 pages. It has such an interesting concept, but unfortunately the story goes nowhere. A frustrating and disappointing read.

Nem de longe meu preferido, mas já introduz várias questões do drama psicológico e da existéncia humana. Inclusive algumas cenas parecem se repetir, mais dedenvolvidas, em memórias do subsolo.
