Poor Golyadkin. Second novel read for Dostoevsky. I don't think I agree with Nabokov on this one.

My fun (and incorrect) theory throughout was that Golyadkin was secretly a spy who had originally taken the identity of Golyadkin the younger (presumed to be dead) so when he shows up again he freaks out.
