We follow Nicole who is fascinated with paintings which in this world can display the hidden world of Empyreals.
We then are introduced to kyan who was sent to hunt down a dangerous spectre, thus beginning our story where the two put on their detective tasks and get to work finding the spectre and a very valuable painting that the spectre took off with.
The story is told through duel POV with Kyan and Nicole as our characters.
The characters weren’t very interesting to read about- they felt very dull and lacked any personality to keep you interested.
I did enjoy the unique aspect of this book about the paintings.
The world building could have been better. Throughout the book I couldn’t really picture where we were located.
There were scenes throughout that picked up my enjoyment but shortly after I found myself bored with the characters until the next eventful scene.
If it sounds interested I would recommended it but overall I felt like it was a lacklustre average read

I'm genuinely shocked at how much I loved this book. It took me about 3 weeks to get through, because I found it be very slow, but at the same time, I couldn't get enough! The mystery, the dark academia, and the agonizingly slow romance were so good! This book also gave me all the Mortal Instruments vibes!

A very charming read, i loved the setting and the atmosphere, as well as the references to the celtic culture and to the classic age, secret organisations and so many different supernatural beings.
The tension between Nicole and Kyan was so intense and palpable, especially during the last part of the book!
The downside was that during the central part of the book, the action was stalled by Nicole’s the inner monologues that were honestly quite repetitive and a bit boring

J’avais beaucoup d’attente sur ce livre mais j’ai été déçue… Lier l’histoire de l’art à de la fantaisie à un énorme potentiel mais j’ai trouvé que la partie histoire de l’art était très anecdotique et c’est dommage. La romance prend trop de place, trop de tensions, et, en même temps, on tourne en rond. Pas assez de suspense sur le mystère du message de la mère, trop de longueur.
I just felt like I didn’t care it had a great opening and a super slow middle I may come back to it
