of course we're not going to have high stakes or suspense happening as much in a short story continuation of an intense-ass series, but all in all this was a truly lovely revisiting of our favorite characters and relationships from the trilogy. so many warm and fuzzies for Jamshid and Muntadhir <3

This is a collection of alternate versions, background, and edited out side stories of the Daevabad trilogy.

As such it doesn't really flow together like the other books but I'm not complaining. It felt a lot less like fan-fiction than other similar collections (like for the Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer)
I guess parts of it felt like edited out scenes and re-imaginings.

The collection would make very little sense to anyone who is not already familiar with the world and characters, so it really is aimed toward fans. I'm up for anything where I get to see more of my boys Jamshid, and Muntadhir.

There were definitely some cool lines that hit me in the feels with this one, such as Nahri's inner feelings about hope, and some heart warming epilogue for old friends and lovers. There is a fulfilling epilogue for Dara.. that seriously has me itching for a spin-off, with an ongoing quest and some LGBT content.

Definitely worth it if you're a fan of the series.
