"Sometimes you have to choose between a bunch of wrong choices and no right ones. You just have to choose which wrong choices feels the least wrong."

I read this back when it came out and I rated it 5 ⭐️ for sure but rereading it now, I can sadly say that I’m lowering my rating. The mere fact that I forgot what the story was all about is the main reason for the decrease. If a story is well deserve of a high rating, it should have been a story to remember but for some reason, after 10 years since I’ve read it. I wasn’t able to remember the important plot. I only remembered it during the reading and some of my assumptions were even slightly wrong.

It took me a lot of days in order to finish the book. I know it’s super emotionally heavy and it is a good read but just not something I look forward to doing (reading) at the end of the day. I love the characters though. It maybe just the writing that made harder to finish

☁️ THOUGHTS:
This is a seriously under-rated CoHo read.. I can't believe its taken me this long to read it! I was NOT expecting the heart-shattering story that this unravelled into, and it broke my heart. This book is filled with love, sadness, dispair, hope and just about every other emotion imaginable. It's a story of love, survival and strength.

“𝐈’𝐯𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐦𝐲 𝐰𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐝𝐚𝐦𝐧 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞.”

Sky and Holder were real, likeable, relatable characters, and I felt every single emotion they experienced throughout the plot. I LOVED Sky. She was blunt, sarcastic and strong: she was real. Holder was.. well he was Holder. He captured my heart with the way he supported Sky without question.

“𝐅𝐮𝐜𝐤 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐬, 𝐒𝐤𝐲. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬.”

The chemistry between the two, and the intensity and passion of their partnership as it developed felt believable, as they supported one another through a shared journey of horrifying revelations, deeply buried memories, trauma and finally healing.

‘𝐖𝐞 𝐜𝐫𝐲 𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐚𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐞𝐫. 𝐖𝐞 𝐜𝐫𝐲 𝐚𝐮𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐧𝐢𝐞𝐜𝐞. 𝐖𝐞 𝐜𝐫𝐲 𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐦 𝐭𝐨 𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐦. 𝐖𝐞 𝐜𝐫𝐲 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐯𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐯𝐨𝐫.’

This was a heart-wrenching, beautiful, devestating and uplifting story of surviving. I'd recommend reading this but do check the content first, as there's some pretty dark topics discussed.

I honestly thought that Holden was going to be the bad guy. In some ways he was, but not like your typical narcissist who plays the girl to make her fall in love with him. Now, do I agree that he hid all that information from Sky (Hope)? No. But I can see why. Also, it’s a book lol. Colleen Hoover can make any character do what she wants for any reason.

i don't even know where to start with this book. one thing is sure and that is that i need a break from colleen hoover books, i can't do it anymore.

i honestly don't even want to go into it because it's mostly the usual stuff wrong with her books - problematic display of relationships and mental illnesses, toxic masculinity, token non-straight characters, her trying to be funny but failing, the mc being not like other girls etc. i know it's one of her earlier works but it's honestly scary how she hasn't changed/learned from some things. and can you imagine this being marketed as a young adult novel?? with very triggering sexual content, abuse, suicide etc.?? reading this was a roller coaster of being weirded out, cringing, rolling my eyes and just getting angry. especially the last quarter is just pure trauma porn and i almost dnf'ed it. wtf colleen.

do not recommend. 🙃
