This is my new favorite running-related book. Honestly, I’ve never been disappointed by anything by Christopher McDougall; he’s an expert at weaving science into story, and his writing style is friendly and engaging. A warning though: this one will make you want to adopt a donkey.
Graphic: Mental illness, Suicide, Suicide attempt
Minor: Animal cruelty
True account of an amazing donkey race. I found the background expositions -- human/animal interactions, Mennonite community, etc. -- to be interesting. I would have preferred the personal story itself to be less detailed.
Not a huge fan of this book. I read it as part of a book group/team building for work. Not my typical read. Although I can see the point of the book - the overall idea behind the journey - there were too many random off shoot stories and extra details that just lengthened the story.

Such a great story, Yes, a heartfelt animal rescue story, but also one that touches on natural history, neuroscience, sports psychology, teamwork, and the importance of community. It might be a great audio book for a family road trip. Recommend.

I never thought I'd be reading about Donkeys or Burro racing. A unique, funny and heartwarming story.
It was a cute easy read. I got a little bored in the middle of it because I could see where the story was going but overall cute story.
