I loved this book, jut like I have loved every other book that I have read by Jeaniene. This is not a Cat and Bones story though. This story is all about Denise and Spade. Spade has said that he will never date another human becuase of the last human that he dated. Denise has vowed to not be anywhere near the vampire world, including her best friend Cat, because it reminds her too much of how she lost her husband. However, when Denise needs help and can't get in contact with Cat or Bones, Spade is the only other contact in the vampire world that can help her. I loved the atraction between the characters and you get to see Denise's spine stiffen a little more each time she is confronted with something new. Cat and Bones manage to put in an appearance along with Mancheres and Ian. I loved the ending and will be picking up the next book as well.
So having read all of Jeaniene Frost Night Huntress and for the most part really enjoying that series I was very interested in this spin off. If you have not read the Night Huntress series I would not recommend picking this book up first. This is not only because of the references from the past books that you oviously can figure out but because the author really started developing these characters in the other series and I think for you to get a really good feel you should start with the other series.
Now, as for this book. As I have said the author does a very good job of making you like these characters. The attraction is there and of course the drama. I think she did a very good job making you want to fight to keep this couple together. With most couples that have such an obstical I tend to start feeling a little dispondent and could care less if they have there happily ever after. This time I cared. A very good, fast read that kept the pages turning from beginning to end.

La verdad es que estoy un poco decepcionada de este libro, estaba esperando algo mucho mejor teniendo en cuenta que los libros de Night Huntress son de mis favoritos.
La historia empezó aburriéndome, después se puso adictiva con mucha tensión sexual entre los protagonistas, mucha acción y además algunos diálogos que me hicieron reír en voz alta. Pero en el último tramo mi problema fue que después de que la pareja decide que quieren estar juntos se me hizo todo muy aburrido entre ellos dos. Estaba esperando mucho más cariño y muestras de afecto ahora que estaban juntos pero se me hicieron bastante sosos. Eso sí, la acción del tramo final me gustó bastante, aunque hubiera preferido que las cosas no se resolvieran tan rápido y de manera tan fácil.
En cuanto a los personajes: Spade me gusto bastante, creo que es un buen protagonista y tuvo ciertas frases que me encantaron pero no esta al nivel de Bones (él es superior en demasiados sentidos). Con Denise tuve un mal viaje, no sé si fue porque todo el tiempo la comparaba con Cat (ella me encanta) o que me costaba mucho empatizar con el duelo que estaba haciendo pero se me hizo insoportable la mayoría de las veces: todo el tiempo tomaba decisiones estúpidas, se enojaba si no la dejaban ir a batallas con ellos pero no tenía en cuenta que ella es humana y no sabe pelear, era más un peso que una ayuda en una pelea. Nunca pensaba antes de tomar una decisión y era demasiado ingenua con todo el mundo, así que no me gusto y ella fue mi mayor problema en el libro.
En fin, una lectura meh, probablemente la olvide en unos meses.

I absolutely love the Night Huntress Universe! This one was about Spade and Denise, and was very good! Denise has never been one of my favorite characters, but she totally redeemed herself in this installment!
it was okay. i am not a fan of densie, but she made it work out for the best. I do Too Spade and Ian in this book because they are hilarous together.

I enjoyed the history and the characters although the writing itself is not up to the standards Frost set in Halfway to the Grave, 1. I'm rather disappointed here. Oh, there's plenty of action and Frost has one heck of an imagination. It's more that the writing feels juvenile in parts; she can do so much better.
