I can’t decide between 4.5 or 5 stars but I know this book was really good. I loved the poet x by Elizabeth Acevedo and I was exited to read this book, I had high expectations from loving the poet x, and those expectations were definitely met. I loved emoni and how she tackled all the things going on in her life. Also the relationship she dad with Malichi was really healthy and good in my opinion, I also really loved her best friend Angelica and how great and supportive she was. I flew through this book and overall thought it discussed the themes of teen pregnancy, finding yourself, and family really well. I’m very exited to read acevados next book when it comes out this year!

This is a story about a young girl who got pregnant her freshman year of highschool and during her senior year she is struggling between doing the "sensible" or "responsible" thing that she thinks she needs to do as a mother, and doing the thing she wants to do which is to take this fancy cooking class and seeing where that goes.

I did NOT think I would like this book at all, and although I loved it and am giving it 5 stars, I would not say this is a favorite of mine. But I was invested every step of the way. I truly cared about her and her daughter and seeing what happened. The writing was beautiful, the audiobook was amazing to listen to, and overall I just really enjoyed it!
