The DRAMA is high with this one with the fake dating, intrusive (loving) family, exs, and reveals.

The mental health representation in Jacob's character, particularly his struggle with anxiety, adds depth and authenticity to the story. Jimenez beautifully navigates the complexities of mental health, creating a compelling narrative around Jacob's challenges and Briana's coping with her past traumas. Plus, their letter exchanges and fake dating were adorable.

What I loved:
1. Jacob's portrayal of anxiety

Love a good fake relationship trope. I like that this author always makes her characters more developed than most romances and deals with some mental health issues. Only flaw was that it took a bit too long to get over the classic “is it still fake or now real” dilemma.

Enjoyed the book. Super fast and fun read Really a 3.5 stars. But wasn’t invested enough in the main couple to give it 4 stars. Somehow Jacob gave off too much ‘written by a woman’ vibes which I didn’t know was possible.

Abby Jimenez does not want to see her readers be happy for more than 45 minutes total. A strong start to the book, but the miscommunication trope was over the top, and then added trauma of a
miscarriage from her previous marriage AND running into her ex
at the end, further driving additional plot devices way too late in the story—at that point, I felt emotionally fatigued. My advice for the author is to pace her plot devices better throughout her books instead of having strong starts, fluffy middles, forced break ups near the end, and only brief moments of happiness in the epilogues. Why can’t the emotionally unavailable FMCs start healing their trauma at 75% mark instead of the 97% mark is beyond me. I’m finally done with the Part of Your World Series (albeit, I swapped the order of the last two) and while I’ll definitely hold all the MMCs in my heart, these will be the only Abby Jimenez books I’ll ever read unless she changes her plot pacing and format in future novels.
