The layout doesn’t work for me and I’m not to this level of fussy when I’m cooking for myself...at least not yet.
I really like her blog and was interested in seeing her cookbook. Definitely several recipes I would like to try.

Stunning pictures, real recipes, and adorable stories by one of my favorite bloggers. I'm an avid library user (because I'm avidly poor) but after having this I couldn't let it escape my greedy little hands and bought my own copy..in the world of Pinterest the fact that I would buy a book of recipes says it all!
I started to go through with my post-its to mark the recipes I wanted to make, and then when I got to the baking section I just stopped, because it would have used up all my post-its to mark everything. I'm gonna get plump this winter!
Can't I give more than five stars? Best cookbook I've ready this year, easily, and there have been some good ones! Not only are there totally irresistible recipes, but it is as much fun to read as a good novel. Delightful from start to finish; have already made 2 recipes and I'm just getting started. Enthusiastically, wholeheartedly recommended; if you like food, or books, you'll like this; if you like both, you'll love it.
Really enjoyed this cookbook - one of my favorites from my "Cookin The Books" book group. We tried a lot of great recipes from the book.
Linguine With Cauliflower Pesto
Vinegar Slaw with Cucumbers and Dill
Asparagus Pizza
Tres Leche Rice Pudding
Red Wine Velvet Cake
Broccoli Slaw
Lemon Bars
Black Bean Ragout with Garlic toasts
Blue cheese & Black Pepper Gougeres
Tomato-glazed Meatballs with Mashed Potatoes
Definitely some that I will have to make myself - a personal favorite was the Tomato glazed meatballs.

The recipes are creative and clever, though they do seem a little complex- perhaps needlessly so. I have not yet made anything from the book, so I can't be sure. The photography is lovely. The breezy tone makes it sound like the blog it came from. I'm not sure I approve of the breezy tone here- I don't know if it's creeping geezerhood or if it just strikes me as off because I'm not one of her blog followers. I'm willing to ascribe it to my own curmudgeonliness.
I find myself going a bit Homer-Simpson-confronted-by-a-stack-of-ribs drooly when I begin to flip through this book. Not only are the photographs outstanding, but the combinations of ingredients in each dish are unusual enough that this has become something completely different in my cookbook collection. I love the intro to each recipe - funny and down-to-earth, and I think Deb Perelman and I have very compatible cooking and baking habits. I've never read the Smitten Kitchen blog but I think it might be time to start.
Deb Perelman is hilarious, a good photographer, and a good cook besides. The book contains a few recipes that are repeats from her blog, but mostly consists of new content. Everything I've tried is delicious, and the things I haven't tried all look amazing. Deb's instructions are detailed enough for me to follow them, although I've been cooking increasingly adventurous things for several years now--this definitely isn't a beginner's book.
