adventurous mysterious reflective slow-paced

What a fun chunk of sci-fi!

Wormholes and aliens and conspiracy theories and immortality and independent AIs and giant superstructures and elves all play interesting roles in the story.

The book is long, and took a bit to get going, but once it started it didn't stop.

The setting is incredible. So many places, and the story is told from many fun points of view.

The characters are decent.

Also, the ending is almost literally a cliff-hanger. I wish I had the second book in my hands right now.

DID NOT FINISH: 46%

I give up. This book is too bloody long with too many characters. It’s doesn’t have a “main” character at all. And I found out it ends on a cliffhanger and the resolution is in another 1000 page book. I can’t. I’m done.

This man knows how to end a book. Far too many authors don't.
Those last few words made me laugh out loud.

It took me four entire months to finish, I can not say it was really worth it.

First 250 pages: intro to 10+ different storylines. Too much.

Middle 500 pages: tolerably waiting to figure out how the storylines fit together.

Last 250 pages: skimming as fast as I could.

The Ozzie Orion storyline was a saving grace.

So long! Some of it I couldn't put down. Sometimes I had to put the book down several times during the same chapter to make it through at all. I will give props to the author for weaving in so many different story lines. However, I had to keep flipping back to remember who was who and how they connected.
