Her Every Wish

Courtney Milan, how do you make me give a crap in such a short amount of time? Oh that's right - Daisy was a lovely side character in Once Upon a Marquess and you manage to pack lots of feels into a small number of pages. A great quick & easy read, definitely improved by reading the first book in the series.

This was very sweet and believable. I liked the family dynamics, and Crash and Daisy's "breakup" made a lot of sense; as did their reunion. I kind of wish the story had been a bit longer, and there was a weird formatting issue (a paragraph was repeated) that threw me off as I wasn't entirely sure where it should have been placed.

I must ration the leftover Milan books I have, but I cannot seem to stop.

Just delightful. Daisy and Crash are fabulous characters.

4.5

In its short 100 pages Milan packs her novella with plot and characters, but also with the robust themes of learning how to accept someone as they are, for who they are, and finding value in yourself, of being worthy of your own wishes. It was an uplifting, jam-packed Milan novella in the style of some of my favorites, without the drawbacks of some of her missteps in the past. I am not at all surprised, and a bit glad, to know that this won the RITA last year.

Perfect gem of a novella. Brought to life a slice of history and a class of individual not usually highlighted in the Regency gene.
