Look I'm shook and I'm even more shook at my head. I can't even review right cause. Woo chile. IYKYK and if you know how would you react initially and progressively?

I feel like that quote encompasses the entire vibe of the book. It's being compared to books like The Firm. If blend it with a little Get Out movie and that's a nail on the head. Just go pick the book up if you've read it tell me or tag me in what you thought. If you haven't. Do it.

TW: rape, graphic violence

Overall, the premise was intriguing and the story held my interest. There were a few graphic scenes that were difficult for me to read. My biggest complaint is that there no nuance to the characters- everyone was either good or evil. Definitely more of a β€œbeach read” thriller, but the pacing was good and the story was intense.

What a ride this book took me on! I finished this book in one day. I didn't want to put it down. The premise of the book is one I haven't seen before and watching the story unfold was a treat. I got this from the library but I might have to buy this one for myself.

My biggest issue about this book unrelated to the plot was how it talked about women. Every sentence felt like it was written by a fratboy looking for shock value. Even before the book went into Forty Acres it talked about women in a vulgar way. It grated on my nerves.

The story was interesting. When is revenge no longer revenge but outright harm? I think not mentioning much about the logistics of how Forty Acres came to be made the story sound so unbelievable, yet it was still a thrilling scary read.

The ending was a little rushed as well, but I think the book as a whole was more good than bad.
