Oh my gosh! Wow! This book was nothing short of amazing! Normally I can figure out what is going to happen in a book before it happens but this book had me guessing through the end. Soooo good!
ARE YOU KIDDING ME OMG THIS WAS EVEN BETTER THAN THE FIRST BOOK
This was everything I wanted and SO MUCH more!
Jennifer has done it again! Also, her writing has come such a long way since lux series.
It starts literally moments after book 1 finished. I thought there were a couple of truth bombs in the first one, but they are nothing compared to what we got here. It was just one thing after another, when things calmed down you discovered something else and it set everything off again.
I definitely think JLA knows how and is good at writing action scenes but she appears not to want to at the moment in this series because there were only around two in the first book and even though there were a few more in this one they never last too long. It definitely leans more on dialogue and the connections between the characters over action. Though, it only made me more emotionally invested..
Evie’s progressed so much in this book. I love the emphasis on her mental well-being and strength over physical.
I love her and Luc’s chemistry.
I also love that we got to see more of the characters from the Lux series.
The pace is great too. Overall, it was an enjoyable read.

Sooooooo good! This whole time I thought this would be a duology until I got near the end and it hit me that there would have to be more. So many crazy twists and revelations!
I cannot wait to see where this goes next. RTC!

“You don’t need to worry about me, Peaches. I’m always going to come back to you. That’s a promise.”
The first book was fine, but that was it. However, this sequel, even if it started slow, had everything that the first one didn't. It is mainly a character-driven story so it is slow plot-wise, but what actually makes it interesting is how painfully realistic it can get sometimes. Last review I complained about the MC and her behavior and I just have to take those words back, because even if I don't like her that much in many scenes, in this book she was described much better and I could get to put myself in her shoes.
Also, the first book was mainly predictable and this was had some really good plot twists and it picked up after a little while. I had to stay up until 2 AM so I could finish it because I refused to go to sleep not knowing how it ended... which actually resulted in me staying up even more time because I had to start the third, but that will come in another review(pretty soon probably)
I also have to mention the political implications in this book and the xenophobia in it. There were many comments in the first one, but now it's a constant reminder in the story and it really well potraited and spoken of.
"A thief wouldn't knock on a bedroom window."
"Luc is the kind of thief that would."
I still love Luc and this book just made that love even bigger and idk, where can you get yourself a Luc? Like... for real

Let me just say up front that I despise when a book ends on a "cliff hanger" and this book shows why. You get immersed in the world of the story and then bam! It's done. Not over, but done until the next installment. It feels like being awoken with a bucket of water. Ugh. Just yank me out of my reality unexpectedly. I hate that.
Still I enjoyed this book. There were twists and turns and some heartbreak as Evie and Luc fight their way to each other and look for the information they need.
Jennifer Armentrout doesn't disappoint.
