I was so hopeful for this book, but it just did not resonate with me.  An incredibly gorgeous cover and I thought it was going to be delightful.  I think it had so much potential, but I felt like I was slogging through it.  I usually put books aside, if they don't quite jive with me at first.  Because it was for the challenge, that didn't seem like an option.  Quite honestly I just wanted it to be over!

This was my free Amazon First Reads e-book for February. Though it had some issues, I enjoyed it enough I will likely buy the physical edition to add to my bookshelf.

My biggest complaint is that 4-year-old Syrah communicates like she was 8 or 10. My second annoyance came from jumpy thoughts. It seemed as if sentences or connecting passages had been removed, resulting in a sudden and unpleasant jump from one event or thought to another. This issue improved as the book progressed didn’t fully disappear.

My inner tree hugger really wants to talk to trees and loved the personification of the forest. Overall, I really liked this book and would recommend it.
