i don't think my lizard brain is going to retain any of this knowledge (i've already forgotten most of it, but that's not on gooley). i think having diagrams or photos would really help... though i'm guessing it'd end up being a hefty book.

A really hard reading for true weather lovers.

The text is full of facts and knowledge that author collected during his life. There are some stories but I did not enjoy them that much.
The biggest flaw is the missing pictures that would for sure help with the reading and learning part.

Not a bad book for weather fanatics but as a I-want-to-learn-something-new casual reading it's too difficult and boring.

My experience of this book is probably best captured by Tristan Gooley's own words:

This has happened to me so many times when walking with experts in other disciplines and it leads to heady mixed emotions. What joy - there’s so much more for us to sense and find meaning in! What terror - how much I must have been missing!

Gooley is a wonderfully sympathetic author and he has so much interesting information to share, but my GOD, I must've missed so much of that information even while reading it, highlighting sentences and repeating them out loud to try to make sense of them. I loved learning more about the weather and weather signs, but it definitely wasn't an easy read for my poor walnut-sized brain with its terrible grasp of physics.

Gooley's style is straightforward and engaging, his anecdotes and examples are illuminating, and all in all this was a wonderful read. Now, with my Teflon brain, if I could remember even 10% of what he's taught me, I'd be happy.

i love that the author is so passionate about this topic but it was just too much information for me and i ended up retaining very little - but i do look up at the sky to try and see if i can find any meaning in the clouds a lot more now, so that's something. i kind of wish i owned a physical copy of this so i could just flip through it for reference.
(shout out to the author for referencing my guy thomas hardy multiple times too)
