Read it because I really enjoyed the movie - and I must say it really felt like an expanded version of the movie (also I say expanded but technically if theres 11 less Mickeys) more so expanded in the world/universe the story is set in
all in all: fun read! shouldn't have taken me as long as it did tbh since the story only take place over a couple days (didn’t love that every other chapter is a lore/backstory explanation, it really took me out of the story and made me want to skip ahead, but I understand that its sci-fi and its explaining things from its universe)

I managed to miss the film in cinemas, so I decided to try the book instead and it was an experience. This has the light, jokey tone of Andy Weir, but with much better world building. Unfortunately this intriguing world building is stymied by lacklustre characters and a very nothing burger plot. There’s some interesting existential questions and themes dealt with, but all too briefly and then we’re back to the silliness, but not super fun or engaging silliness. The sequel seems to double down on the parts I’m not interested in, so I think I’ll be skipping that.

Deadpool meets Guardians of the Galaxy with a bit of philosophy sprinkled in. It was a blast I couldn’t put down and loved the hilarious narration from Mickey. If you’re a sci-fi fan, space lover, and are down for action mixed with some comedic relief, you’ll love this wild ride! 👽🪐🚀🧑🚀🐛🧬🕑💫💚
