This is so much fun and has what I love in my sci-fi. Give me that existential dread mixed with just goofy antics. It did well to keep the tone serious when it needed but also when to step back from it. I watched the movie and immediately had to read this. I wasn't disappointed at all and while it's so different I loved this. I love this Mickey and how he is just a different flavor of pathetic than movie Mickey. All the side characters along with just the world building that the movie didn't have time for I really really enjoyed. Short read and 100% worth it. Loved Mickey.

I’ve been in a slump for weeks, so my rating likely reflects the fact that this is the first book I’ve been able to finish in a while.

Simply put, this was quick and fun. It didn’t breach the ethics of Mickey’s job as much as I would’ve liked, but I found him so likable that I didn’t care. This is a lot more lighthearted than the subject material, which is weird for me. Additionally, I typically enjoy nonlinear storytelling, but some of the flashbacks that Mickey describes feel displaced.

Overall, I had fun with this. Mickey is lovable and witty without being obnoxious. I’d be interesting in exploring more of this world.
