Not worth your time
Not worth your time. This book only does three things; 1 - Spout exposition (which I think the author believes is world building), 2 - Action scenes (where the author constantly re-explains things needlessly), 3 - Dialogue of how 'cool' and 'awesome' the protagonist is. This clearly trying to do the whole shounen anime thing and it falls flat and sounds lame. A clear example why editors exist.

As enjoyable as the first book in this series.
The cultivation elements draw from Anime's roots all the way to current iterations. So if you're not familiar with the LitRPG genre, I'd recommend starting with Aleron Kong or Michael Chatfield.
I like the way Kerr's protagonist uses tactical problem solving to leverage his one main advantage, (knowledge of the future), over opponents that are so over-powered. Michael draws on knowledge and techniques from higher levels in creative ways. It's not just pulling new powers out of a magic bag... it's careful preparation along with multiple layers of contingency. Yes!
The subtext also resonates with me. Michael knows that humanity has the bearest thread of a chance to survive its future challenges but the rest of humanity, in its ignorance, is still playing ego games of status and power. This is the same frustration anyone faces when trying to get a job done only to be undermined by infighting and personal rivalries... but in Michael's case, extinction is on the line.

Most of the time the author has the characters do something and get result; and then tell what they did. While that seems cool sometimes, the amount of times the author does this is annoying. And I think the book needed an epilogue instead of going on a tell, not show route.

Still very very good! His actions through his knowledge of the future are changing the world and it’s becoming a place he doesn’t recognize - for the better. Looking forward to the next volume
