This isn’t a good book, not gonna lie. But is it entertaining? Absolutely yes.
Some of the humor was cringe (the popcorn eating scene, for instance. It felt strangely out of place and wasn’t funny). The book should have been trimmed down, it could have ended at about 80% of the way in and we wouldn’t have lost anything.
One of my main problems (maybe I’m just picky) was that Aly felt very flat. Beyond that, she’s supposed to be a NURSE but states multiple times that Josh is going to make her spontaneously ovulate by doing things she found attractive. It took me out of the book every time.
It does get an extra star because the audiobook is an absolute delight, and I recommend the audiobook over the physical book. Jacob Morgan is phenomenal.

What is the genre? Is this a romance/spicy novel or a murder story or both? It feels like 2 different books in 1. The genre sharply turns halfway through. It caught me off guard.
Pros: I like the tall & muscular female character rep. Almost all novels have tiny small hungry female characters who are somehow also very strong and great fighters?? Aly at least was realistic - maybe the most realistic part of this entire book lol
If you have a kink for masked men there will be a different book out there for you. If you like masked men + stalking + criminal behavior + knives + blood +anal then this is for you. Its kinda hard to enjoy this if you have just 1 of these kinks.
Lets just say it - this was poorly written. The characters are adults but have the vocabulary of 16 year olds ("hello boobs" huh!?)
Also this was unintentionally funny. Something insane and criminal would happen to Aly and she would just shrug it off and go to work the next day like nothing happened. Ok? Am I supposed to be invested in this? All the crazy stuff was so normalized it made me feel crazy.
