The Awakening, is the first book in the Zodiac Academy series.

It centers on Tory and Darcy Vega, changeling fae orphans, who are on the verge of losing their home, before being brought to the fae world Solaris - where they were born. Turns out they are the lost princesses and true rulers of the throne.

They learn that while most fae can harness between 1-3 elements, they can harness all 4 which is very unusual.

Then we have the Celestial Heirs, who have been training all their lives to rule the throne, and they won't let Tory & Darcy come in and take away everything they have worked so hard for.

This leads to bullying, and pranks to try and make them leave and give up their birthright.

What the boys didn't count on is that Tory and Darcy have been fighting all their lives, and if they want a fight, then bring it on.

I'm so fucking mad

Why are we writing "romance" books where the fmcs are treated like shit and yet they're gonna keep going back???

Like this is SEVERE. I genuinely am disgusted and disappointed by this book.

I'm sure it'll just continue and the girls will allow these boys (who literally deserve to die idcidc) into their pants again and again

Tory and Darcy are your MAIN CHARACTERS why are u torturing them??? I get "bully romance" or whatever (actually, I don't) but genuinely how can you excuse this????

I had to have my boyfriend preread the bullying scenes because they were PAINFUL and even then I skimmed because I just can't.

If there isn't EXTREME revenge in the next book(s) then what is the point? I bet it'll just be sparring or whatever and the dumb asses realizing the girls are stronger than them and just being like "u can join our club now"

I really really hated this and i dont think there is any redemption for the boys. I honestly hope the school explodes.

I will read the second one because I love torturing myself

Well . . . I understand why this series is loved . . . Darius, Seth, Caleb and Max are definitely bullies/assholes who keep torturing the protagonists despite the fact they keep reiterating that they don't want what the precious four are trying so desperately to keep. Are they deaf? Are they incapable of English comprehension? Cause I'm pretty sure Tory and Darcy have been quite clear that they just would like to fly under the radar. Ugh! I want to throttle them all. And I'm on the fence of how I feel about Orion . . .

Unfortunately there wasn’t a lot of plot besides bullying that borderlines abusive.. plus attempted murder and all because the main characters exist in this world. I was just left wanting more from the story. A lot of it felt extremely childish to me, and I wished that some of the names weren’t so cliche. All that said, there were a few saving graces throughout that really made me laugh. I’m giving this book a pass as the first in a series, continuing on to see where it goes from here!
