”What do you want, Jacob? Really?”

His eyes slid closed for a minute before he answered, his voice aching with honesty. “A lot. But most of all, I just want to know you like this.”

On its own, this is a very good and well-written book. It probably hurt that I naturally compared it to the previous two books in the series. The problems I had were personal; I just couldn’t relate to Eve like I did the other two sisters. She came across as more spoiled and entitled than either Dani or Chloe ever did. It’s entirely possible I just didn’t understand her, though. I did enjoy Jacob. I have yet to encounter an MC on the autism spectrum that I haven’t liked. I always feel like I’m learning something while enjoying myself! (Side note: this book can be read as a standalone).

Eve ends up running away because she gets in a fight with her parents after yet another one of her “careers” implodes. She feels very misunderstood, by everyone, but they think she just isn’t taking life seriously. She ends up at a B&B, interviewing for a kitchen position. It doesn’t go very well, even before she accidentally hits the owner with her car. So, she sticks around to help. She owes Jacob that at least, right? And thus the story begins.

Eve and Jacob are very different, but also similar in the ways that matter, which is pretty standard for an enemies-to-lovers story. Their differences work, too: Eve easily charms the customers, while Jacob takes care of the behind-the-scenes touches and all the paperwork. Jacob can’t follow a recipe, yet Eve is a great cook. Jacob won’t stand up for himself, yet Eve has no problem speaking her mind when it comes to him (and what she believes). They know they’re different and as a result, they both try hard to communicate clearly. Even during the inevitable conflict, I at least understood why things went south, instead of rolling my eyes.

As I said above, I really liked Jacob. He tried really hard to move past his traumatic childhood by doing something for others that he always wanted for himself: a home away from home. I think that’s really cool. I also thought there was strong chemistry between Jacob and Eve. Really, the only downside was my ambivalence towards Eve. I just didn’t have the easiest time understanding her “personal growth” angle. For example, she was so sure her parents misunderstood her, but the second they cut her off financially, so began her supposed path of self-actualization. Sooooo… maybe her parents did know what was best for her, after all? Maybe they actually understood her better than she did herself? Additionally, the whole party-planning storyline just kind of fizzled. I was looking forward to Eve learning some lessons about friendship through that situation, but it just… didn’t make the cut, I guess. The ending was a bit abrupt, and it just felt like something was missing. I didn’t feel the warm fuzzies like I did with Chloe and Dani, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t a perfect enjoyable book. It just didn’t have that extra magic

I have been really excited to read this one since from the moment we got introduced to Eve in Get a Life, Chloe Brown, I knew I was going to love her! Literally, as Jacob has called her, she is Sunshine! She's hilarious, adorable, and of course she's got one thing in common with me, she loves A03 (aka Archive of Our Own the fanfiction site). Honestly, I had a lot of fun getting to know her.

I absolutely adored this book and watching Eve and Jacob's love story unfold! They were very entertaining with all their arguments and conversations. Literally the sass between them had me cracking up laughing every single time. From the moment she met, to when she ran over him with her car (accidentally of course), to the way that Jacob began opening up to her, it was definitely a page turner! I kept switching back and forth between the audiobook and the physical copy because I didn't want to put it down, even when I was driving to work in the morning.

I laughed, I got angry, I was heartbroken, and of course I cried...only a little, and of course swooning over the spicy moments (and there were quite a few of them...). This book had my emotions all over the place. It was so cute!

My only complaint was the first spicy scene between them. What began as the cutest moment ever, lead to the funniest part ever, and then the spice just...happened then and there. I don't know if it was just me, but it just felt...rushed. Like I get it, things were heating up for them and naturally, in true fanfiction fashion, when something like the "funny moment" occurred, they're due for something sexy. But I don't know, things just felt weird. Also some of the wording was silly. I won't go into too much detail, but some of the phrasing had me laughing instead of blushing. But I will say the next spicy moment flowed much nicer, and of course I was grinning like a moron over things. You'll see why haha

Overall, this book was incredibly cheesy (in a good way!) and I can't wait to see what happens next in this universe since I just found out that there will be a Skybrier series featuring Mont and his hilarious and crazy sisters, Tessa and Alex. (aka "Totally Spies"...which I NEARLY SCREAMED OVER THE REFERENCE! HAHA) I loved all three of them in the story and I want to see more of them in the future! But regarding Act Your Age, Eve Brown, I loved it!

I really liked this book until Eve diagnosed herself and her whole family with autism after a five minute google research lol
she literally says that she doesn't have any of the symptoms described on the internet but then she reads that autistic people "notice small details" and "get anxious about social interactions" and then she proceeds to self diagnose lmao you have to be kidding me
as if it wasn't enough she also tells Jacob and he's like "oh yeah I knew that" EXCUSE ME ???

also blocking the traffic for your stupid love confession is NOT romantic at all I was cringing so bad while reading that

I think this is my favorite of the series. I found Jacob and Eve especially relatable and their chemistry was perfect.
